Michael Goodson on Jason Moran and Cecilia Vicuña

Curator Tour

Set from Jason Moran

Explore the works featured in Jason Moran and Cecilia Vicuña: Lo Precario/The Precarious with Senior Curator of Exhibitions Michael Goodson.

Goodson will provide insight into Jason Moran’s work, focusing on the various manifestations of musicality in contemporary art and the nature of the artist’s ongoing collaborative practice. He’ll also speak to the challenges of restaging this exhibition (previously on view at the Walker Art Center and Institute of Contemporary Art / Boston) amid the complex architecture and opulent light of the Wexner Center.

In the second half of the tour, Goodson will address ideas that have driven the work of Cecilia Vicuña since she started making her intimately scaled precario sculptures from cast-off materials like fabric scraps, twigs, and feathers in the late 1960s. He’ll also discuss the process of integrating very early precarios with later creations made from materials sourced around the Wex and Columbus.
