Hear about the crucial work of the Black Film Center/Archive from BFC/A Director Dr. Terri Francis.
Established in 1981, the Black Film Center/Archive at Indiana University is the first archival repository dedicated to collecting, preserving, and making available historically and culturally significant films by and about Black people. Join Terri Francis and Wex Director of Film/Video Dave Filipi as they discuss the organization’s history, its vital work, and its unique position in the field of film education and preservation.
The program includes a short film made by IU grad student Bria McCarty in 2020 that chronicles the foundational ideas for the BFC/A. The film will be available on this page February 25–March 3. (5:41 mins., video)
