For Families

The Wex is truly an inspiring and smart spot in Columbus that welcomes your whole family together to shop, get a quick bite to eat, see an exhibition, catch a movie, or take in a show. Your visit will be unlike anything else in town and is ideal for sharing time and experiences together along with being educational and exploratory.

Wex Wide Open

A woman and a child do crafts.

Part of our free and low-cost Zoom programs for families, Wex Wide Open events invite audiences of all ages to visit and engage with our dynamic, multidisciplinary arts center. Every Wex Wide Open is a different experience—with new activities including hands-on workshops, art-making studios, gallery tours, and film and performing arts offerings.

Zoom Family Programming

A woman helps a child with a craft.

Look for various “Zoom seal-of-approval” events, activities, book readings and signings, and performances throughout the year in our calendars and on our website. You'll find programs that have been curated by the Wexner Center for the Arts' education department with kids and families in mind.

Zoom: Family Film Festival

Parents with their children enjoy films at Zoom: Family Film Festival.

Join us every December for Zoom: Family Film Festival, featuring international films selected specifically for family audiences and focusing on a child’s experience or perspective. Come in your pajamas Saturday morning for a bowl of cereal before heading into the movie theater to watch a program of surprising shorts from all over the world. That afternoon, films continue alongside a family studio experience in Mershon Lobby and opportunities to experience our exhibitions. An ice cream social tops off Zoom: Family Film Festival Saturday.

Zoom Performing Arts for Kids

Actors on stage for a theater production

At least once a year the Wex presents a performing arts experience with as much international renown and cutting-edge experimentation as our mainstage presentations—but created with a child audience in mind. Come as a curious family to experience something truly different together.
