Jobs

The Wexner Center for the Arts is The Ohio State University's multidisciplinary, international laboratory for the exploration and advancement of contemporary art. We appreciate your interest in the center as a potential employer. The Wexner Center is committed to building an inclusive work environment that welcomes and values diversity. We strive to ensure that our work environment is as stimulating, inspiring, and diverse as the many artists, programs, and art forms we present.

Various employment opportunities are periodically available at the Wexner Center. Because the center is part of The Ohio State University, full-time job listings and applications are handled through the university's Office of Human Resources. As permanent positions become available, they are posted on the university's employment web site. Positions appear with Wexner Center vacancies listed under “department” as WCA and then the specific employing area within the center. Click here to visit the OSU Jobs site.

Internships

We have a variety of internship positions, paid or for course credit, available in several programming areas for summer, fall, spring, or the full academic year. To find out more and for common questions concerning our university student internship opportunities, please review the information found here.

Volunteer

Would you like to get involved and see behind-the-scenes at the Wexner Center? Volunteers, from students to retirees, come from all walks of life. All you need is interest and enthusiasm! Become a docent, join our core of volunteer ushers, or explore one of our volunteer councils.

Docents

Docents are active members of the Wexner Center's education department who lead interactive tours of gallery exhibitions and the center's unique architectural spaces. Docents work with a variety of people—university classes, school groups, teens, and art lovers from near and far—to explore and appreciate the connections between contemporary art and their own lives.

No experience or previous training is required, but all docents must have an active commitment to exploring contemporary art and promoting its ability to engage, provoke, and illuminate. Those interested in becoming docents prepare by participating in the Docent-in-Training program, which begins each fall.

Volunteer Ushers

We see a little bit of everything and everybody. When you volunteer to assist our patrons at events, you’ll get to see it all too: getting the first look at new exhibitions during our gallery openings, being entertained and inspired by a wide array of programs, learning from educational lectures, viewing rare movie classics as well as brand new films often introduced by filmmakers, and, of course, enjoying dance, theater, and music from all over the US and abroad at our performing arts shows. Ushering with us lets you keep your finger on the pulse of the contemporary art world for free.

No experience or previous training is required, but ushers complete an introductory training and orientation session.

Volunteer Councils

Our various Wex Volunteer Councils are supported by individuals who aid the Wex in expanding reach by cultivating and engaging new audiences and helping build community support.
