Children dressed in superhero masks and capes

Supa Modo charmed everyone who saw it last December at the Wexner Center’s Zoom: Family Film Festival, and we’re pleased to be able to offer another opportunity to encounter this memorable movie online!

Kenya’s official Oscar entry for Best Foreign Language Film, this is a superhero film like no other! A nine-year-old girl named Jo, obsessed with Jackie Chan and action movies, finds solace from a terminal illness diagnosis by believing that she has superpowers like her heroes. Far from morbid, Supa Modo is a funny and joyful experience about the power of imagination as Jo’s village bands together to make her dreams a reality. (74 mins., DCP) In English, Kikuyu, and Swahili with English subtitles. Recommended for ages 8 and up.
