Do you love to write AND read comics? This session is for youth ages 13–17 who have questions about writing and pathways to working in comics, including strategies on how to get started and how to get into a regular studio/writing practice.
This Zoom session is free and will last about an hour-and-a-half to two hours, and features guest Ebony Flowers. Flowers is a scholar, teacher, and cartoonist who lives in Denver, well-known for her book Hot Comb. She has won an Eisner Award for Best Short Story and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work-Youth/Teens. She will be joining us via Zoom from Denver.
Bring your sketchbook, something you are working on or want to write about in addition to who your influences might be. What are your most favorite comics and why? Come ready to meet like-minded youth and enter into dialogue! Please note that the session will fill fast and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
