WEX INTERNSHIPS: 2021–22 | POSITIONS FILLED
(Art & Resilience Department | Fall 2021–Spring 2022)
This intern assists with administrative duties connected to the Wexner Center's Art & Resilience programs and works with the Director of Art & Resilience to explore program evaluation methods, from planning to implementation. The intern helps day-to-day logistics run smoothly by assisting with set up, welcoming and communicating with participants, steering participants toward virtual program offerings, and more. The intern may be asked to attend Wex planning and team meetings and programs when applicable. Interest in public health and/or social work, art therapy, education and/or art education are particularly desired. BIPOC and members of the LGBTQ+ communities are encouraged to apply.

This intern provides administrative support and participates in accessibility initiatives by researching best practices in digital accessibility and by planning, developing, and implementing accessible materials in consultation with individuals in disability communities for use in our virtual and physical spaces. In addition, the intern may attend meetings; view livestreamed, virtual events; and (if deemed appropriate and safe) attend live, in-person events to assess for accessibility. THIS POSITION IS CLOSED (Development Department | Fall 2021–Spring 2022)
This intern supports the donor relations team within the Development department at the Wexner Center. The intern assists with fundraising campaigns, including drafting solicitations and campaign materials for corporate and individual giving campaigns; coordinating solicitation and campaign mailings; assisting with development event preparation and follow-up; maintaining donor and prospect records in databases, including Tessitura and TAS; and working with other development interns on wider initiatives. This position also involves data entry and database cleanup, list maintenance, basic research, attendance at meetings, work with other interns and colleagues across the center, and assistance with various development initiatives outside the donor relations team.

This internship entails helping draft a wide variety of materials (short- and long-form) for the Development department at the Wexner Center, including but not limited to: program and project overviews for use with donors/funders, letter writing, grants (including support materials and grant reports), impact pieces/stories, member profiles and funder briefings, and strategic messaging. The position also involves research, data compilation, proofreading, simple design work, attendance at meetings, work with interns and colleagues across the center, and other efforts as needed that contribute to fundraising efforts at the Wex.

(Learning and Public Practice Department | Fall 2021–Spring 2022)
This intern provides administrative assistance by supporting and helping to plan inclusion, diversity, and engagement initiatives focused in Black/African American communities.
Responsibilities include assisting the Director of Learning & Public Practice in advocacy and engagement efforts; organizing and archiving program materials; helping maintain an online presence for documenting, translating, and transferring information using online tools; taking notes during meetings; conducting online research; gathering information or materials for Shumate Council initiatives, diversity participation, and diverse audience building; and joining the Shumate Council as an actively participating junior member.

This position is open to undergraduate and graduate students of all majors and spans the academic year. The intern has a direct role in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Wexner Center programs, including talks with artists and scholars, university cosponsorships, and student events. The intern also assists regularly with research in the creation of interpretive material and website content for public programs, exhibitions, performing arts, and film/video.

(Learning and Public Practice Department | Summer 2021, Fall 2021, and Spring 2022)
This intern must be a visual artist who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to gain project management and program experience. The intern provides hands-on art and administrative assistance toward the completion of a community-driven public art project. The intern will work as part of a team that includes a nonprofit social service agency, local professional artists, a PR firm, and a media firm. This individual may be asked to order and manage materials, run errands, and perform miscellaneous office tasks as needed and must be conscientious, cheerful, and eager to help.
Responsibilities include assisting the Manager of Youth, Family, and Community Programs by taking notes at team meetings, creating and processing surveys, engaging with children and adults, and assisting with youth and family programs at the Wex and in the community. The intern must have excellent professional boundaries while simultaneously maintaining a friendly and curious demeanor.

(Marketing/Communications Department | Fall 2021 and Spring 2022)
This intern supports creative blog content and public relations efforts related to the Wexner Center and its programming.
Responsibilities include researching future events and visiting artists, assisting with interviews, collecting content assets from visiting artists and internal partners, and editing raw copy and audio. The intern fulfills photo requests from media outlets and captures new image assets from Wex programming as needed. While tracking media coverage of the center and helping to maintain and update current media lists and identify new targets for media outreach, the intern assists with distribution and online placement of event listings information. This internship may be extended through summer semester, if mutually agreed to by intern and supervisor.

(Marketing/Communications Department | Spring 2021)
In conjunction with their enrollment in the Department of English’s Minor in Professional Writing, this intern will work directly with the editorial team within the Wexner Center’s internal marketing/communications department, assisting with the core task of helping our partners across the center to develop clear, compelling language that entices and informs varied audiences about our many programs and initiatives while maintaining artist and curatorial intent.
Responsibilities include participating in developing, writing, editing, and proofreading a variety of print and electronic materials. Specific projects will include both short-form work (promotional copy for emails, ads, postcards, fliers, social media, and event descriptions), long-form work (interpretive essays, interviews/blog features, performing arts programs, press releases), and occasionally technical work (editing lists and indexes, tagging content and creating alt text descriptions). The intern will be responsible for proofreading, fact-checking, and shaping copy to meet house style and brand voice; checking layouts and updating text and images on our web site; and assisting with monitoring tasks in project management software.
Requirements: Candidate must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled at Ohio State. Must commit to eight hours per week; have excellent written, organizational, and research skills; be a tactful communicator; and possess an interest in contemporary art, film, music, or performance.
Terms of Internship: Intern will receive course credit through Ohio State’s Minor in Professional Writing (MiPW) program for eight hours of work per week (excluding university holidays.)
